I don't know if anyone remembers me mentioning that I had trouble with my previous wedding bands? Had a pear cut at first, diamonds kept falling out of it, then switched to a princess cut, and diamonds were becoming lose, I could usually catch them and have them tightened before they actually fell out. I adored both of those bands and didn't care to keep having the diamonds tightened on them, it's like a car you have to change the oil if you want it to run properly. And it was free; part of my warranty.
Well, my most recent wedding band set is the princess cut, fyi. The hubs and I were sitting on the couch watching Wife Swap, and I went to move a throw pillow and heard a snagging noise. Looked down at my ring, gasped, and behold one of the diamonds fell out. I immediately got upset, of course. Screaming that I wanted the money back and bla, which in turn upset my husband.
The next day he took the ring to the Jewelers and demanding the money back, we spoke with the district manager and everything. They kept saying "We will see what we can do." The jewelry company that I buy all my jewelry from is Zales, and they've been fabulous for the past (atleast) 5 years that me and adam have been purchasing jewelry from there. They worked with me as much as they could. Of course they said they didn't want to just give the money back to us. That'd be to easy, they wanted to make sure we were happy. Which is fine. Like I said, I can not say anything bad about this company. Any time I've had problems with my rings they have bent over backwards for me. But I just got fed up. I was tired of constantly have my ring in the shop and it was unfair. We paid a good amount for that ring, and I just felt like the quality should have been better. I felt bad for my husband, because he was only trying to please me by purchasing, and then it keeps upsetting me with the diamonds falling out.
I finally called the woman that we usually deal with and explained to her how I felt. Sure, give me a full cash refund, I wont complain, but I still adore Zales and wanted to be a customer there so I wanted to see exactly what we could do. What all my options were. She told me "Just come in the store, let me see what we can do. We're going to make sure you leave here tonight happy, and no matter what we will call it even."
I went there when I got off work, and let me just tell you I felt like Reese Witherspoon on Sweet Home Alabama. She had me atleast 10 different rings picked out already and took me from case to case picking the ring I wanted.
I finally came to a decision and got a ring I totally love. It's actually 3 rings. The band, the solitare diamond, and an enhancer. It came out to be 1500 dollars more than what my ring was!! At first I was like wouldn't it just be easier for them to give me a refund and send me somewhere else, but after I thought about it, with Zales you can trade your ring in for value. Say if your ring is worth 5,000 and you want a 10,000 dollar ring, you only end up paying 5,000 when you trade in your ring. So technically they know they'll eventually make that money back off me, but still. Not many companies work with you so well.
So, rock on Zales. Rock on.
